HYGGE HOUSE
Holiday Cottage

OUR STORY
We have converted the boat sheds and workshop of our Shaldon waterfront property into an architect-designed holiday cottage bolthole - an idyllic destination in Devon for couples, friends and families to unwind and relax.
When searching for a name we stumbled upon the popular current phenomenon of 'Hygge' - The Danish word of the moment - previously unknown to all but the most hardcore Scandophiles, Hygge defies literal translation - "cosiness” being a workable approximation – it’s not exactly that, but rather, a feeling of calm togetherness and the enjoyment of simple pleasures - this is what Hygge House delivers.

Tucked away on the banks of the Teign Estuary, Hygge House offers luxury holiday cottage accommodation in tranquil surroundings - a perfect break.

Beaches
There are some great days out around Shaldon, with clean beaches that are ideal for swimming, sailing, rowing, paddling and rock pool exploring.
Templer Way
A popular route for walkers, linking Haytor on Dartmoor to the mouth of the Teign, the route by which granite and clay were transported to the port of Teignmouth before being shipped around the country.
Shaldon Zoo
Dedicated to conservation and fascinating for both young and old, it is well worth a visit. Located by the large car park at the top of the village, and this is the nearest place to park to reach the Ness beach - via The Smugglers Tunnel.
Golf
Pitch & Putt above the Ness, with spectacular views across the bay looking towards Teignmouth, Dawlish, Exmouth and far beyond towards Dorset. Across the estuary is Teignmouth golf club - with equally stunning scenery, both out to sea and across to Dartmoor.
